Triumph introduced an improved and more powerful 2000 Saloon in 1949 to replace the previous 1800 model. The 2000 used a new four cylinder engine also shared with the Standard Vanguard coupled to a three speed gearbox.
As before the 2000 Saloon featured a traditional, pre-war style body which was a complete contrast when compared to the more modern Vanguard. Production of the 2000 Saloon only lasted for one year, a new Renown model replaced it at the end of 1949.
